Generic name: calcium mitiglinide hydrate. It is a fast-acting insulin secretogogue created and developed by Kissei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and has been marketed in Japan since 2004 as an agent to improve postprandial blood sugar control in Type 2 diabetes. Eisai signed an agreement with Kissei Pharmaceutical giving it exclusive rights to develop and market Glufast® in 10 ASEAN countries in June 2007 and in China in September 2007.
